When students are getting ready to leave school they have lots of choices about what to do next. Deciding what to do can be hard. Students have a lot to think about so here at the Will Adams centre we have an in-house Careers advisor to help support every step of the way and help pupils get ready to leave for their next step.
A career plan is a practical strategy and through delivering our BTEC Work Skills Qualifications this allows students to determine their skills and interests, set career goals, and put actions in place that will help them reach them.
It’s a continuous process, and it includes an overview of:
- Your current skills and qualities
- Work Experience
- Your career goals
- Your interests & hobbies
- Your priorities
- Your intended actions
Why is career planning important?
Career planning is a great way to ensure every students career is going in the right direction.
Not only does it help students realise their passion, it also facilitates their career goals with tangible actions and aims. At the very least, it’ll help to answer career goal questions at your next interview.
By assessing their situation, they will additionally be able to determine and fill any gaps in your knowledge or experience that might be holding students back from their dream job.
