Course Title: Functional Skills English: level 1 and level 2.
These are designed to give students the skills needed for the world of work and vocational courses.
In English, the course is in three parts and supports students in reading, writing and speaking and listening within a social setting.
What you will study
Students will begin the Functional Skills courses in year ten with the expectation of passing and moving on to GCSE.
A four week booster will be delivered at the beginning of the Christmas term and then students will be offered a first entry depending on their level, for the January exam.
All functional skills teaching will underpin GCSE coursework and exam preparation.
If the students pass level 1 then they will be given the opportunity to take the level 2 tests which will give them the equivalent grade of GCSE English A-C.
How you will be assessed
100% exam. There will be 1 reading paper and 1 writing paper, each lasting approximately 45 minutes each.
