Course Title: NCFE Level 1 Award in Photography
This course is aimed at people wanting to develop an understanding of the basic photographic processes.
The qualification will also allow learners to understand how to manipulate images
What you will study
This course consists of 2 units which need to be completed and you build up a portfolio of evidence that is moderated.
Unit 01: Use a camera to capture creative images
- In this unit you will show how to prepare a digital camera for use. You will be able to correctly check and install batteries and image storage media. In preparing to capture images, you will be able to identify the basic principles of composition and visual awareness. You will also learn how to use basic controls on the camera like aperture and shutter speed.
Unit 02: Digital image manipulation
- In this unit you will be able to identify and choose captured images for manipulation whilst using editing software like Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. You will then modify image size and be able to prepare the images for print and evaluation.
How you will be assessed
You will need to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each of the three units. This evidence will be marked by the teacher and then moderated by an exam board moderator
Possible Careers and Further Education
This qualification will allow you to progress into employment or self-employment within the photographic industry, or onto further qualifications at Level 2 in creative subjects such as photography, and art and design.
